Upp conversion

It realy much more than a upp conversion.
In 720p you record on card 960x720p
in 1080i/25p also caled psf, real progresive frames packed in interlaced stream, you record on card a 1920x1080p.
The big issue it´s that panasonic use pixel sift from a SD CCD, the CCD work always in 1920x1080 and later on a prefiltering stage make all the sub-formats.
In 1080i you ratain all the inormation and no way to compare a internal full bandwith procesing to a soft-hardware procesing at 8bit in post-pro stage. - cabezotaverde

P2 cards are $900 for a 16 GB version. The camera has two slots, so that when recording, you can remove a full card and replace it with an empty one while continuing to record on the second card. Panasonic has a 2/3 inch CCD HD camera uses the P2 cards that also has the high bit rate, priced at about $18,000. - JEJ

I did not comapare the quality of the image using the 1080i setting because that is a scaled image. The native resolution is 720p. The videos can be scaled to 480 or 1080 in any video editor. There is no point in doing that in the camera because you can't go back to the native 720p if you don't like the results. - JEJ
